VoiceCode Medical Coding

Natural Language Coding Engine

VoiceCode Medical Coding uses natural language processing to generate ICD, CPT, and E&M codes from the provider approved text. By generating codes from text, the coding module ensures that the documentation supports the billable codes. The Coding module enables under-coders to maximize their billing. More importantly, the Coding module reduces the risk to the practice that results from over-coding.

Ongoing Learning

VoiceCode Medical Coding learns from its mistakes. As coders review the software’s output and make corrections, the system learns. Over time, this feature helps the software achieve high accuracy rates.

Automated Coding

VoiceCode Medical Coding uses a system of “supervised learning” where numerous examples of correctly processed data is used to predict what the correct output will be on new examples. The medical coding environment is a perfect match for supervised learning. Every day, human coders annotate thousands of medical charts, providing correct codes (the output) for each chart. The Natural Language Coding routines leverage these results to accurately generate ICD and CPT codes for new charts.

Eliminate undercoding

The VoiceCode Medical Coding enables under-coders to maximize their billing. More importantly, the Coding module reduces the risk to the practice that results from overcoding.

Dictation Optimization

VoiceCode Medical Coding engine helps physicians learn how to code by identifying the phrases used from the documentation to generate a particular code. Phrasing that is not used for coding and does not add to the richness of the overall note adds less value. Physicians can use this feedback to streamline their documentation and therefore reduce the time it takes to dictate.
